A Holiday for Every Day of January

Even though the holiday season is technically over, there are still quirky obscure holidays to get you through the gray winter month of January. Let’s celebrate!

January 10th Houseplant Appreciation Day: Have you watered that poor little withering plant sitting in the kitchen yet? It’d definitely appreciate the water and if you’re feeling extra appreciative feed it just a bit of plant food.

January 11th Jump In a Puddle and Splash Your Friends Day: This one is full of one-sided fun. Your friend might not think its fun but seeing their face when they get splashed is so worth it.

January 12th National Pharmacist Day: This holiday was obviously created by a pharmacist. Grab your white lab coat and hand out gummy vitamins to every pharmacist you see. Make sure to thank them for their work in the medical field!

January 13th Make Your Dream Come True Day: The official song of dreamers is ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’.

January 14th Dress Up Your Pet Day: This day includes hysterical laughing and embarrassed, ashamed animals.

January 15th National Hat Day: This holiday is especially helpful if you’re having a bad hair day. Just pop on a stylish hat!

January 16th National Nothing Day: Celebrate by doing nothing.

January 17th Ditch New Year’s Resolution Day: I celebrated this holiday early. Like, on January 2nd.

January 18th Winnie the Pooh Day: It’s the author of Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne’s birthday today! He’s not only known for the beloved stuffed bear but for marvelous essay collections: The Sunny Side.

January 19th National Popcorn Day: Popcorn is synonymous with movies so pop in your favorite movie and pop a bag of the classic snack.

January 20th Penguin Awareness Day: Watch a documentary about these Antarctica native’s and tell a penguin joke or two. Wearing a tuxedo to match them is optional.

January 21st Squirrel Appreciation Day: Really?

January 22nd National Brownie Day: Make a batch of delicious brownies and try not to eat all of the batter.

January 23rd National Pie Day: This could either be a day to reflect on math equations or delicious fruit filled pastries with a flaky crust.

January 24th Compliment Day: Ex: “You are not someone I pretend to not see in public”.

January 25th Opposite Day: Walk backwards. Wear your clothes inside out. Speak in Pig Latin.

January 26th Australia Day: Grab your didgeridoo and koala, mate. Today’s the day to perfect your Australian accent and maybe pop into a Woolies’.

January 27th Chocolate Cake Day: You can choose to make this holiday part of your daily routine.

January 28th  National Kazoo Day: On August 9, 2010 The San Francisco Giants hosted a Jerry Garcia tribute night, in which an ensemble of up to 9,000 kazoo players played ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame.’

January 29th National Puzzle Day: Complete a jigsaw puzzle or puzzle over a question.

January 30th National Croissant Day: Eat up, my friends.

January 31st Chinese New Year: It’s the year of the dragon!

Happy January! May everyday be a celebration!
